LA MARQUE, Texas – The superintendent of schools of La Marque ISD is resigning.
Terri Watkins announced she will remain on the job until Dec. 18.

Watkins has been superintendent for the past two years, through the loss of the district's accreditation.
In February, the Texas Education Association revoked LMISD's accreditation, citing three consecutive years of unacceptable academic ratings and poor financial accountability.
The district was set to shut down in July but won a reprieve.
Watkins said she believes the current board should stay in tact, despite the state wanting to replace the board.
