Routine traffic stop leads to police chase in northeast Houston

HOUSTON – Deputies are trying to figure out why a driver ran during an attempted routine traffic stop in northeast Harris County.

Harris County deputies attempted to stop a car driving along Wallisville Road for driving with no headlights on. When the deputy attempted to stop the driver, the driver took off to the East Sam Houston Parkway where the deputy chased him to Interstate 10 east and over several freeways. The driver, whose identity has not been released, pulled into a driveway on Fleming Drive and gave up.

According to Harris County deputies, the car was not stolen and the driver did not have warrants. The driver has been arrested and is facing felony evading charges.
