HOUSTON –
A wild chase ended on Westheimer Road early Tuesday morning with a woman pulling out a gun and shooting at her boyfriend's Rolls Royce. Charges have been filed against Quindolyn Kauffman.
According to police, the incident started as an argument. At around 3 a.m., Kauffman, 23, was chasing her boyfriend down the street. As she was driving, police said she pulled out a pistol and shot out his engine. The boyfriend's car started leaking oil, causing him to pull into the Double Tree Hotel in the Galleria of Westheimer Road and call police.
The victim was a Houston wholesale jeweler named Darrell Jones, 41. Police said at the time of the shooting, he had private security with him. Jones and Kauffman are former boyfriend and girlfriend.
No one was injured. Kauffman was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
"Yeah, I'd say it's pretty normal for a morning on Westheimer," said Chris Albright, a man grabbing lunch in the Galleria area.
"I think that's crazy, you know," said Silvia Olivia Gonzalez, a woman shopping in the Galleria area.
Meanwhile, police say Kauffman tried to get away, but a witness followed her, called police and officers eventually arrested her.
Police are still investigating to find a motive for the shooting, but Kauffman has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
