HOUSTON – Two men are on the run after a bank robbery Tuesday morning in west Houston, but they didn't get away with the cash for long.
Authorities said two armed men wearing masks walked into the Capital One Bank on the 1500 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway around 10 a.m.
The men made off with a bag full of cash, but as they were driving off in their vehicle, a dye pack in the bag exploded while they were still in the parking lot.
The robbers dropped the backpack and drove off in the black Honda Civic, which may have red ink on the passenger side. The newer model car had a white roof and a white trunk.
Sky 2 aerials showed a black bag full of money and an exploded dye pack lying on the street near the bank. The FBI said most of the cash was recovered in the parking lot.
No one was hurt during the robbery.
The FBI is investigating.
