Alligator captured at SE Houston culvert

HOUSTON – An alligator hanging out in a southeast Houston culvert has a new home.

The gator proved to be quite the dangerous attraction on Monroe near Almeda Genoa, as some people tried to feed and catch him.

The 4- to 5-foot alligator is on his way to a new home. The Gator Squad spent most of Wednesday afternoon chasing down the gator.

Eventually they were able to pull him out of a nearby bayou.

"Thankfully we were able to hook him and pull him out and get him out of harm. Either way, he could have hurt somebody, or somebody could have illegally hurt him," Christy Kroboth, with the Gator Squad, said.

The gator is safe, but since it is used to being fed by humans, it can't be released back into the wild.

It will live out the rest of its days on a farm in El Campo.
