Mother arrested for driving drunk with 3 kids in car

Police said Nicole Webb blew .12 while driving

FERNDALE, Mich. – An Michigan mother was in court Tuesday after she was arrested for allegedly driving drunk with her three kids in the car.

Ferndale police said an officer pulled over Nicole Webb for speeding on Eight Mile Road at 2:20 a.m.

"Woman was intoxicated, driving drunk, and had open bottle of vodka in the car with her," Lt. William Wilson said.

Police said the 28-year-old Webb blew a .12. Two of her kids, ages one and three, were in car seats. Her four-year-old was not.

Webb was charged with operating under the influence with a child under 16, driving with a suspended license and driving with open alcohol.

"One of the problems that I have is (that) you have a bench warrant issued for you out of Detroit," a judge told Webb Tuesday.

The warrant was for failing to appear in court, which appears to show a pattern of judgment to law enforcement, officials said.

"Obviously, not a good decision to drink and drive, ever," Wilson said. "But for a mother to be using such a lack of discretion to take along three young kids with her, that really adds to the severity of it."

Webb also failed to appear in court two other times in Eastpointe, which led the judge to put her bond at $10,000 for these three misdemeanors. She'll have to pay 10 percent.

The three kids were turned over to a family member.

Webb isn't allowed to use alcohol or drugs, can't drive and has to undergo pretrial supervision if she posts bond.
