Montoya noticed Blade's black Dodge Charger approaching at a high rate of speed and tried to move his patrol car out of the way, but was unsuccessful. Blade hit the rear passenger side of the patrol car, forcing the patrol car into a concrete wall, police said.

When Montoya tried to detain Blade, she drove away from the scene. Montoya's vehicle suffered two blown tires, so he couldn't pursue her, but the Houston Police Department was notified of the incident and a short time later, Blade was detained by officers in the 14400 block of Hiram Clark, according to police. She was brought back to the scene.

Montoya was taken to the hospital with an injury to his elbow. He was later released.

Blade was not injured in the crash, and she was taken to the processing center for driving while intoxicated and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
