Homicide detectives said they believe the woman, in her 40s or 50s, was a prostitute in the area.

"One of the local patrol officers had come across her weeks prior, and his recollection (is) he believed she was a prostitute in the area," said Robert Klementich, of HPD's Homicide Division.

She was found wrapped in a hotel blanket with no apparent injuries, police said. It is unclear how she died or how she got there.

"There’s no indication of trauma, either gunshot wound or stab wounds," Klementich said. "(There is) no indication she was strangled at this point."

Police said there were no witnesses to the dumping but they are following up with the person who called 911.

Detectives are also asking for surveillance video from nearby residents.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

UPDATE from HPD investigator: The victim was wrapped in a hotel blanket. They believe she was a prostitute.
