LA MARQUE, Texas – The La Marque Police Department is investigating after a body was found inside a burning vehicle early Friday morning, police said.
Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at 6:45 a.m. in the 5600 block of Mitchell Lane near the Gulf Greyhound Park, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a Ford Expedition, possibly an early 2000s model, engulfed in flames, and a body of an adult stature was discovered. Investigators said the identification numbers had been removed from the vehicle.
An investigation is underway, but officials have not ruled the incident a homicide.
