Which Payless shoe stores in Houston area are closing?

HOUSTON – Payless ShoeSource announced in April that it would be closing hundreds of stores across the country as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

"This is a difficult, but necessary, decision driven by the continued challenges of the retail environment, which will only intensify," Payless CEO W. Paul Jones said in a statement.

The company announced that it would immediately close nearly 400 stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It has more than 4,400 stores in over 30 countries, according to its website.

Here’s a list of the Houston-area stores that are closing:

  • 9405 Jensen Drive
  • Telephone Rd Shopping Center
  • Pearland Parkway Village
  • El Dorado Marketplace
  • The Crossing At Fort Bend
  • Hearthstone Corners
  • 4605 Avenue H – Rosenberg
  • 11003 1/2 Market Street Road
  • 9417 Mesa
  • 2219 Fulton St.
  • Spencer Shopping Center – South Houston
  • Fiesta Shopping Center
  • Bay Park Shopping Center – La Marque
  • 2650 Pearland Parkway – Pearland
  • 2001 Katy Mills Blvd. – Katy

About 10 other stores in the Houston area are part of bankruptcy negotiations, but have not been selected for closure yet.
