While supplies last: Houston company gives free water ahead of Harvey

No description found

HOUSTON – A local business owner on Friday offered free water to residents affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Steve Amira, owner of Houston Beverage, is trying to ease the expense of preparing for a major storm and increase some people's access to water. It's just one part of Houstonians helping Houstonians before Harvey.

"I'm planning to give away 1,000 cases," Amira said. "It's for my religion. We believe it's the month of giving."

The month of giving coincidentally, falls as the rain begins to pour over the Houston area and the threat of flooding increases.

"Nobody has water. Walmart has run out, H-E-B. None of those people have water so I thought it was a good idea to give water away today," Amira said.

Amira said he is just trying to do as much as he can.

The giveaway began at 8:30 a.m. Friday and will continue until supplies run out.

Houston Beverage is located at 11020 Katy Freeway, Suite 108.
