Fans react to Tilman Fertitta's agreement to purchase Rockets team

HOUSTON – "I'm a great big Rockets fan. I'm a Houston fan. Texans, Rockets, you name it. I love them,” Iva Jarmon said.

KPRC 2 talked to Jamon just outside of the Toyota Center, the home of the Houston Rockets.

"I think it's exciting simply because we're going to stay here in Houston and he's going to be here in Houston," she said.

The new owner of the Rockets will be Houston’s “Billionaire Boss,” Tillman Fertitta, the owner of Landry’s, if the other NBA owners agree. The sign outside the company’s corporate headquarters on the West Loop lists his offerings. Soon, the list could include “sports.”

"I'm excited! I'm a big Rockets fan, and we always go to the game all the time. We're excited for the new owner," Rockets fan Aldridge Jack said.

In Memorial Park, the news fueled a few runs around the loop, as fans hoped the announcement would launch the Rockets into a championship.

"Glad Tillman bought it so ownership stays in Houston. I think Tillman has his eye on big picture. Always," Rockets fan Mike Byatt said.
