HOUSTON – Police are asking for the public’s help to find three people who killed a man in southwest Houston in more than a year ago.
Houston police said Deontra Smith, 37, was found shot to death at the Pines of Westbury Apartments on Sept. 11, 2016.
Investigators said they believe Smith got into an argument with a woman in a black Chevy Camaro in the parking lot of the apartments before witnesses reported hearing several gunshots. It appeared Smith was ambushed and shot in the back, investigators said. Smith ran through the complex before he collapsed and died on a sidewalk, investigators said.
Police said they are looking for two men and a woman in connection with Smith’s death.
One of the men was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, with short hair and neck tattoos. He goes by the name of “D-Lo,” police said.
The second man was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a light complexion. He may go by the name “Red,” police said.
Police said the woman is believed to be married to one of the men.
The trio are believed to frequent the area where the shooting happened, police said.
Police said one of the men was seen getting out of a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Chevy Trailblazer. The other man was seen getting out of the Camaro that the woman was seen riding in, police said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
