HOUSTON – One person is dead following a shooting at a southwest Houston sports bar early Sunday morning.
Police said they were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m. at the La Oficina Sports Bar in the 11000 block of Wilcrest Drive following reports of shots fired inside the pool hall.
Houston police said there were about 30 people inside the bar watching the World Cup and celebrating Mexico's Wednesday win over Korea when the shooting occurred.
After the victim, who was identified as a 45-year-old Jesus Aviles, was shot multiple times, other bar patrons scattered from the scene, leaving police with no leads as to what happened, they said.
The suspect is only described as a Hispanic male, police said. Investigators released a picture of the suspect Sunday afternoon.
Investigators are asking people with information to come forward, and that they are not interested in immigration status.
Police are working to determine if surveillance cameras at the scene are functional.
