HOUSTON – With Veterans Day upon us, there are lots of business around the state offering discounts for veterans and their families throughout the weekend.
The actual day, it's worth noting, is on Sunday.
Here are some weekend deals we found on the website MilitaryBenefits.info, although participation may vary. Call or check online with the restaurant or attraction you're planning on visiting to make sure that you'll receive the promotion that you're anticipating.
Many local spots will have discounts, as well.
Free car wash
Veterans can get a free Express car wash Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Wetzone Car Wash.

For veterans to redeem, they must pull into the Full Service Lane with proper identification showing they are veterans.
McDonald's
Participating McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Houston Area will honor military servicemen and servicewomen with a free Extra Value Meal this Veterans Day (the offer is valid both Sunday, Nov. 11 and Monday, Nov. 12). Veterans and current members of the military are invited to enjoy their free meal by visiting participating restaurants and showing their military ID. The offer can be redeemed for an Extra Value Meal, which includes favorites like the Quarter Pounder with cheese or Filet-o-Fish with medium fries and your choice of soft drink or breakfast items like the Egg McMuffin with hash browns and a small McCafé coffee.
Bubba's free meal
Bubba’s 33 in Pasadena on 3221 East Sam Houston Parkway South is honored to welcome American heroes with a free meal. All veterans - including active, retired or former U.S. military - can choose one of six entrees, including a Classic Cheeseburger, Bubba’s Bacon Burger, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Salad, Chicken Tender Salad or 12-inch pepperoni pizza plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/ice tea or coffee during lunch. Proof of service includes military or VA card, or discharge papers. The deal is good Sunday from open until 4 p.m.
Free Doughnut
On Sunday, November 11, at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in Houston, veterans and active duty military are eligible to receive a free doughnut of their choice with no purchase necessary.
METRO Houston
All veterans and active military service personnel ride free on METRO on Monday.
Space Center Houston
Members of the military, police, fire and emergency medical technicians will receive free admission for the entire month of November by showing their public service, military IDs or badges.

Free Pizza
Russo’s New York Pizzeria is offering Buy One Get One Free Giant Slice for Veterans all day on Sunday, November 11 at all of their 48 locations nationwide.
Free kolache and coffee
Kolache Factory stores nationwide are offering free breakfast to all veterans and all those who are actively serving our country in the U.S. armed forces. All veterans and servicemen and women will receive a free freshly made kolache of their choice, savory or sweet, and a cup of coffee. You must present a government-issued military photo ID to get the deal.
Free Freddy's meal
This Sunday, veterans and active military personnel can stop by Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers and receive a free combo meal card to use during their next visit.
54th Street Grill & Bar
Free entree up to $12 on Veterans Day (Sunday) for veterans and active-duty military members who dine inside.
The Alamo
Free tours and giveaways for all military members and veterans on Sunday.
Bombshells Restaurant & Bar
Free meals for veterans of any branch of the U.S. armed forces on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. There will be 20 percent discount on meals for veterans' families and active-service military members.
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
On Veterans Day Weekend (Saturday-Monday), all active duty and retired military personnel enjoy complimentary admission (with valid military ID).
LA Burger
Order one free burger per veteran with proper identification.
Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library
Free admission to all visitors on Veterans Day on Sunday. The library will also be offering free admission to veterans on Monday.
McAlister’s Deli
On Sunday, all men and women of the military receive a complimentary entrée, drink and dessert.
Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt
All veterans and active duty military will receive free froyo on Sunday when they show their military ID.
Paramount Dental
During the month of November, veterans are offered a 30 percent discount that applies to all treatment except for implants and Invisalign, which will have a separate special promotion.
Texas Parks & Wildlife
Active-duty and retired military members entrance fees are waived for all day users on Sunday. Standard facility fees and camping/overnight fees still apply.
Village Creek State Park
Active-duty military members and veterans receive free park entrance on Sunday. Camping and other activity fees still apply.
