HOUSTON – A Beaumont woman who was taken off of ventilation at a Houston hospital will be transferred to a new facility Wednesday, KPRC2 has confirmed.
Doctors removed Carolyn Jones, 61, from a ventilator Monday.
Jones has survived since then, breathing on her own.
Jones was being treated at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

Jones suffered a stroke two years ago and had been treated at Memorial Hermann Southwest since last fall.
Earlier this month, Jones’ family was notified of a decision to take her off of ventilation. The decision follows parameters outlined in a section of Texas’ Advance Directives Act.
At issue is a so-called 10-day rule, which Jones’ family said unfairly gives doctors the right to decide whether the 61-year-old gets to live.
The family confirmed to KPRC2 they are in the process of finalizing a contract with the new medical facility that will house Jones.
They're also raising money to help cover costs associated with the move.
Jones is not in the clear yet, KPRC2 learned. Doctors did not give Jones dialysis treatment Tuesday.
The family hopes she is transferred before her condition worsens.
