According to the Kerrville Police Department, they received several reports of social media posts threatening a school shooting at Hal Peterson Middle School on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The department started investigating and discovered that a 10-year-old student of Kerrville ISD posted the threat to social media with the intent of causing alarm or panic.

“No valid threat to Hal Peterson Middle School existed. The juvenile was charged with Texas Penal Code 22.07 Terrorist Threat, a felony of the third degree,” the department said.

The department went on to say they urge parents to speak with their children about the seriousness of making threats, or posting information to social media that reference violence to schools.

“Remind your children that school threats are a felony and will have serious consequences,” the department said.
