The bill, HB 5503, would designate Interstate 35 in Travis County as the President Donald J. Trump Highway.

If passed, the bill would lead to the creation of markers at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.

It would take effect on Sept. 1, 2025, if passed.

Shofner’s district includes Nacogdoches, Newton, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, and Shelby counties in East Texas.
