Strong thunderstorms are currently impacting the northern part of Harris County.

Right now, a large cluster of showers and thunderstorms is located near Spring, extending north through Montgomery County and up towards San Jacinto and Polk counties into East Texas.

These storms have been strengthening, prompting several special weather statements for the potential of gusty winds and small hail. They are also beginning to build southward as areas near the 610 Loop in Houston are starting to get impacted by rain as well.

Very heavy rainfall is also apparent as rain gauges along I-45 have picked up nearly 1.5 inches of rain in 45 minutes. According to the Harris County Flood Warning System, the rain gauge at Cypress Creek on I-45 near FM 1960 picked up 1.4 inches of rain in about 45 minutes and rain is still coming down.

A severe weather threat is still possible throughout the day Saturday. The stronger storms today could have large hail and damaging winds along with a street flooding threat. The tornado threat is extremely low.
