Man charged with capital murder after Heights robbery, police chase

An 18-year-old man is now facing multiple felony charges, including capital murder, after police say he shot and killed a woman during a robbery in Houston’s Heights neighborhood. Authorities identified the suspect as Darius Dewayne Hall, who investigators say fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and led officers on a police chase that ended at an apartment complex near the Southwest Freeway. Hall was eventually taken into custody after barricading himself inside, and court records show he also faces charges of evading arrest and tampering with evidence.


Austin bar reopens after deadly Sixth Street mass shooting, donates sales to victims

An Austin bar near the site of last weekend’s deadly West Sixth Street mass shooting reopened over the weekend while working to support victims and their families. Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden announced it donated 100% of its sales from Friday through Sunday to those impacted by the attack. Authorities say three people were killed and 18 others were injured when a gunman opened fire on a crowd before police shot and killed the suspect. The bar says it is now working with police and implementing additional safety measures following the tragedy.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is honoring first responders today by offering free admission to NRG Park for first responders and up to four family members. The annual event continues to draw massive crowds, with more than 70,000 fans packing NRG Stadium Sunday night for Forrest Frank’s performance.
