3 Cypress Springs students kidnap classmate for sex, police say

CYPRESS, Texas – One of Three Cypress Springs High School students accused of kidnapping a classmate late last month in order to have sex with her appeared in court Thursday.

Imanuel Rizig stood before a judge Thursday morning and was given a no contact order with the 18-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped, according to court documents.

Fredrick Woodard also was supposed to stand before a judge, but did not appear, while Elrey Gonzalez is set to appear in court Friday morning.

The 18-year-old student told police that on Nov. 28, she was kidnapped by a male student as she was walking to class after lunch, according to the documents. She said that the student forced her into a vehicle, where other male students were waiting. The group then drove her to a home, where she was twice propositioned for sex, she said. She refused both advances and then left, she said.

According to the documents, investigators used surveillance video to confirm the teen’s claim that she was kidnapped, and were able to identify one of the suspects as Justin Broadway, 18.

Investigators interviewed Broadway, who said that the girl had agreed to have sex with another member of the group, Ryan Jeng, 17, and that he facilitated a rendezvous between the pair, according to the documents. He said that he, the girl, Jeng and Imanuel Rizig, 18, got into a vehicle. He said that they drove to Jeng’s house, where Jeng propositioned the girl for sex. He said that when she refused, Rizig then propositioned her. He said that she also refused his advances. He said he then told the girl to leave.

Another student who was interviewed by investigators said that he had overheard Broadway, Jeng and Rizig talking about “flipping” the girl – a slang term meaning to pass the girl from one sexual partner to another.

Broadway, Jeng and Rizig were each charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Nicole Ray, a spokeswoman for the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District released the following statement about the incident:

"We are extremely concerned by the serious nature of the charges that lead to the arrest of three Cypress Springs High School students. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement in this case."
