Bolivar Peninsula, TEXAS – A bottlenose dolphin is recovering after she was rescued near Gavleston Bay Thursday morning.
Deputies with the Galveston County Sheriff's Department found her stranded on the Bolivar Peninsula at 3:30 a.m. They managed to keep her alive with first aid until the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network arrived to transport the animal to a tank at its rehabilitation center on Galveston Island.

TMMSN said the dolphin began to swim on her own, but she is currently being rehydrated with fluids through a tube.
The organization also said volunteers are working around the clock to monitor the dolphin's health and behavior.
