Boyfriend accused of running over girlfriend, fleeing the scene

HOUSTON – Deputies were searching for the man who they believe ran over his girlfriend early Thursday morning,  then fled the scene.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, the situation began at the intersection of  Windy Port and Port Bishop where a boyfriend and girlfriend, both 23 years old, got into an argument.

The woman tried to get out of the car, but deputies say the man then dragged her back inside the vehicle.

Investigators say the girlfriend managed to escape a second time and started to run away from him.

The man started to follow the woman in his car, and that's when he allegedly ran her over.

Witnesses say the woman was trapped under a car, and her boyfriend crashed his car into two other vehicles that were parked in a driveway.

An off-duty Houston police officer, who lives across the street from that driveway, described the incident.

"All of a sudden, I heard a big bang: a car accident. I look outside and see the car hit another car, and there was a female underneath. And then some guy running back and forth, asking for [someone] to call for an ambulance. She was underneath the car, and he doesn't try to help," said Richard Michael, who helped rescue the woman.

Michael was able to lift the car off the woman with the help of another neighbor.

She was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and investigators said she was in stable condition.

The boyfriend ran away from the scene, leaving his car behind.
