A man was arrested for theft after he allegedly stole money from a string of hotels in the Galveston area.

According to the La Porte Police Department, Brian Mayfield-Lewis stole or attempted to steal money six times at four different hotels in mid-October.
He allegedly stole from Comfort Suites at 902 South 8th St., Fairway Inn at 902 South Highway 146, La Quinta Inn at 1105 South Highway 146 and Holiday Inn Express at 908 W. Gray St.
Police said Mayfield-Lewis would walk or jump behind hotel lobby check-in counters while associates were away and open cash registers to access money. He stole money twice from Fairway Inn and attempted to steal from La Quinta Inn again 45 minutes later on the same day, but when he returned he was stopped by employees.
Mayfield-Lewis, 22, continued the same theft techniques until he was caught and arrested by La Porte police Wednesday after an attempt to steal from Comfort Suites.
Police said he was stopped by an employee who called the police, and he was later captured a few blocks away by officers.
