HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident that happened around 3:55 p.m. Saturday on the 6400 block of Calhoun Road.
Police say a man was speeding in a stolen maroon Ford Focus when he lost control of the vehicle. The car went into a wooded area and caught fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, according to authorities.
Officials say two other passengers were taken to a nearby hospital, but their injuries were non-life-threatening.
The vehicle just been used in a robbery before the accident, according to HPD.
