Highway 288 north reopens after deadly 2-vehicle crash

HOUSTON – A deadly crash in Pearland closed the northbound lanes of Highway 288 at the South Sam Houston Parkway Friday morning.

Investigators said an 18-wheeler and a car with a wheelchair license plate collided around 3 a.m.

The car was badly damaged after it slammed into a pole.

Traffic was rerouted off of 288 and onto the feeder roads.

The cause of the crash is unknown.

The road reopened just before 8 a.m.
