HOUSTON – An usual mishap in one Houston man’s truck lead to a major crash Thursday morning.
According to Houston Police, the driver lost control of his truck when his steering wheel came off. It happened on the eastbound side of 610 South Loop near the Crestmont exit.
Police said the truck slammed into the guardrail, trapping the driver.
Firefighters were forced to extricate the driver through the passenger door.
He was taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries, officials said.
Officials at the scene said the steering wheel could not be found inside the truck. It’s unclear if it flew out of the vehicle during the crash.
The driver has not been identified.
