RICHMOND, Texas – Fort Bend Independent School District students who attend flood-damaged Juan Seguin Elementary School in Richmond will be split between two schools when classes resume Tuesday.

District officials said Thursday that students from kindergarten to second grade will be housed at James Patterson Elementary School, while students from third through fifth grades will be housed at David Crockett Middle School.

Officials said both schools have the capacity to handle the additional students and buses will transport students to their appropriate schools.

“Although Hurricane Harvey has disrupted the beginning of our school year, we are doing all we can to minimize the impacts on teaching and learning,” said FBISD Superintendent Charles Dupre. “Our educators are eager to get back to doing what they do best each and every day.”

Repairs to Goodman Elementary School are ahead of schedule and the facility will be ready to welcome students on Tuesday.

Willowridge High School remains closed as crews work to remove mold that was discovered during the summer break.

Campuses will be open Friday and Monday to help register and enroll students who have been displaced because of Hurricane Harvey.
