Flood victims waiting for relief in Kingwood

KINGWOOD, Texas – Resident of the Forest Cove subdivision says water level apparently going down around his home, after days of heavy rains.

Matt Windquist evacuated his home two days ago and hasn’t yet returned.

“You sit there and you wonder what’s going on with your house and then there is always the fear of not just the weather conditions, but criminal activity,” Windquist said.

His neighbors who chose not to evacuate have been sending him photos of the outside of his home.  After looking at the photo from Thursday, it appeared the water level had dropped compared to Wednesday.

“Right now it looks like it’s going down and we're hoping that continues, but unfortunately there is still the possibility that it can get higher,” Windquist said.

According to the National Weather Service, the San Jacinto River in the Forest Cove area is not expected to dip below flood stage until Tuesday morning, however the water will continue to go down until then, unless the area gets more rain.
