Harris County Pct. 4 deputy constables recognized for helping homeless man

HOUSTON – Two Harris County Pct. 4 deputy constables are being praised for their compassion and generosity after they helped a homeless man buy a bus ticket home. 

Someone captured the act of kindness on video, showing two deputy constables approaching the man, who was asking for money while standing in the road at the intersection of Richey Road and Interstate-45.

The deputy constables learned that the man was asking motorists for money so that he could get back home to Seattle, Washington.

One of the deputy constables walked back to his patrol car, got a $100 bill and gave it to the man for his bus ticket.

The deputy constables' act of kindness was recognized and a commendation was included in their personnel file.

"This is a perfect illustration of compassion by your police! "Good does happen with law enforcement doing their jobs," Harris County Constable Mark Herman said.
