A family is safe after escaping their burning home Sunday morning, fire officials said.
Officials said the Katy home at the intersection of Deermoss and Lazy Valley drivescaught fire around 1:50 a.m.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control around 2:30 a.m.
The fire damaged the roof of the home.
The homeowner said the smoke detector woke her and her family members up. They escaped the home and were not injured.
A firefighter with a foot injury was taken to the hospital, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
