Deputies arrived at the apartment around 9 a.m. Saturday after a woman said that her home was broken into. They discovered the woman’s boyfriend was attacked by three unknown men at the home.
The victim and the men got into a struggle, and then he was taken out of home and placed into his vehicle. Then, they left the scene, deputies said.
Deputies later traced the vehicle to Smiling Wood Lane. When deputies opened the trunk, they found a male that fits the description of the man at the home invasion. The victim’s car had an anti-theft tracking device.
The family still has to verify the body, investigators said.
Deputies are handling this incident as a homicide. They believe the suspects were waiting for the victim inside the girlfriend’s home, and that the victim was lured to come into the home.
While the girlfriend called the police, investigators are unclear if she was involved.
Deputies said there is “obvious trauma” to the body, and that the victim was shot an unknown number of times. It is also unclear if anything was taken from the home.
There is no suspect information available at this time.
