Knife-wielding man shot, killed by HCSO deputy at Cypress gas station, officials say

HOUSTON – A Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed a knife-wielding man Wednesday at a Cypress gas station, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a Timewise convenience store in the 12000 block of Telge Road at 11:54 a.m. after receiving reports of a knife-wielding man.

Officials said deputies were told that a man was walking around the parking lot, bleeding, with a knife in his hand. Officials said when the responding deputies tried to detain the man, he refused and fought the deputies. Officials said during the fight, the man was shot by deputies. Officials said the deputies began to perform CPR on the man until EMS arrived at the scene. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials said no deputies were injured in the shooting.

The case is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Civil Rights Division.
