Answer: According to The Texas Department of Transportation, this issue is purely cosmetic and the integrity of the bridge is sound.
What you’re looking at is patchwork done to address damage from a crash at this location a few years ago. Currently, there are about 56,000 bridges and in the State of Texas, inspections are performed once every two years.
All bridges in the Lonestar state must be inspected by a licensed professional engineer and have a minimum of 10 years of experience.
TXDOT’s bridge inspection program is audited by the Federal Highway Authority.
