The system Houston firefighters use to dispatch fire trucks is back active after being down earlier Saturday, the Houston Fire Department confirmed.
Officials said the department’s Voice Over IP Computer System was down.

It is unknown what caused the system to go down.
The fire department dispatched units individually through pagers, by phone and by radio. Officials said 911 calls are still being processed.
“We’re always prepared to do normal operations in our contingency plan in the event that our system goes down so this is not affecting us in a negative way,” HFD Fire Chief Sam Pena said.
The outage is also impacted the Houston Police Department’s dispatch system, Pena said.
