HOUSTON – A man was found dead outside a Fiesta near NRG Park, according to Houston Police Department.
Police said the shooting occurred after 1:30 p.m. at the grocery store at 8130 Kirby Drive. Investigators said they believe there may have been an argument between two men, which resulted in one of them pulling out a gun.
“Essentially I was getting back to work after running a few errands and I pulled up here and there was a guy driving really, really slow. I heard a big boom and I was like oh it’s a car accident,” said Ashl’e Caldwell, a witness of the shooting.
Police said there was no car crash, but they are speaking to witnesses and gathering information.
“We did hear that, that the man that was shot may have bumped the car as he was walking by and that’s what started it,” said HPD Detective David Stark.
Officials said the suspect fled the scene. Police believe he was driving a black Dodge Challenger.
Police are hoping that some of the nearby businesses may have caught the shooting on surveillance video.
