Woman dead after her vehicle goes over barrier toward US 59 and McGowen, authorities say

HOUSTON – Houston police and the investigators with Harris County District Attorney’s office division of vehicular crimes say an older adult female is dead after her vehicle went off the highway at Southwest Freeway and McGowen on Wednesday.

The woman was driving towards Hamilton Avenue where she collided with another vehicle driving eastbound towards Pierce. Police say the woman’s vehicle went over the barrier and fell onto the southbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway.

The woman was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead, authorities say.

Authorities are investigating another vehicle that may also be involved in the crash and they also believe one of the drivers apparently ran a red light.

The intersection will be closed for several hours as authorities continue investigating, according to police.
