HOUSTON – Houston police homicide detectives are investigating after they said a man was stabbed to death in southwest Houston Friday.
Officers said the stabbing happened in the 6600 block of Fondren around 6:30 a.m.
Police believe the man was stabbed in a parking lot and then ran over to the Chevron gas station for help. According to investigators, the victim was arguing with a male suspect when the stabbing occurred. Officers said the suspect then fled the scene. Police said the victim was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
KPRC 2′s Brittany Jeffers spoke with the owner of a nearby business and he said he showed up for work this morning to find the crime scene out in the parking lot.
“We drove up and the streets all blocked off,” Clay Cahoon said. “My wife and I are thinking, ‘Oh, what’s happened?’ and then we hear somebody got stabbed.”
“I do know that he called out for help… and that’s when the attendant at the gas station came to his aid and called 911,” Sgt. Blake Roberts with the HPD Homicide Unit said.
A focus of the investigation right now is to try to get a better description of the suspect.
Officers will be reviewing surveillance video to see if they can start to piece together exactly what happened.
KPRC 2 will provide updates as they become available.
