On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department released body camera video of a police chase that ended in law enforcement officers shooting and killing a suspect.

Houston police said the incident happened on Nov. 11 around 11:24 a.m. when Harris County Precinct 4 deputies tried to stop Elliot Lewis.

Lewis was the man who investigators said shot into Precinct 4 Constable’s Office earlier that week.

In the body camera video posted by HPD’s on YouTube, you can hear officials radio that Lewis’ speeds were approaching 100 miles per hour.

2. Man charged in death of wife whose body was found in freezer voluntarily seeks GPS monitor after mix-up, attorney says

The man accused of killing his wife and putting her body in a freezer is out on bond again, and his attorney says, he took it upon himself to make sure he was being properly monitored.

Investigators said Curtis Allen Holliday, 58, killed his wife, 29-year-old Chi Thi Lien Le, who had been missing since April 3.

Initially, Holliday was booked into the Harris County jail after being charged with violating a bond for a protective order and continuous violence against a family member. There, he was interviewed by investigators in connection to his wife’s disappearance.

A search of Holliday’s place of business in the 5800 block of West Sam Houston Parkway North was conducted, and investigators found Le’s remains in a commercial freezer on the property.

4. ‘Bound to happen again’: Attorney’s prediction comes true after authorities say sergeant sexually assaulted at Harris County Jail

In a little more than a month after a 19-year-old inmate with special needs was beaten to death at the Harris County Jail, a sergeant at the facility was sexually assaulted by an inmate, authorities confirm. What makes the attack even more concerning for some is that a Houston attorney representing the family of the beaten inmate warned that another attack was imminent at the understaffed 1200 Baker Street facility.

On Monday, at about 2 p.m., investigators said an HCSO sergeant reported that she was assaulted by an inmate in an administrative office on the fifth floor of the facility.

Authorities said the sergeant was immediately taken to the jail clinic for treatment and later transported to a local hospital for further medical care and support services.

5. Gulf Freeway expansion expected to be finished by early 2022

The Texas Department of Transportation shut down a highly used entrance ramp for inbound traffic in League City earlier this year. This long-term closure is not expected to open until March of next year.

According to TxDOT, this closure was put in place to help crews speed up their roadwork. All the construction work is between League City down to Galveston Island.

“We have six projects along the Gulf Freeway Corridor that go all the way down to the Galveston causeway,” Danny Perez with TxDOT said. “It’s a major undertake to have that many projects going at one time but we want to continue that progress.”

The first project covers the lanes between NASA Road 1 to FM-518. Once the work is done, the highway will expand to 10 lanes total.
