Sienna community rallies behind neighbors who received a complaint about kids

An anonymous letter citing chaos over children playing outside and in the street is causing quite the stir in one Sienna neighborhood.

Alexis Quisenberry said the letter was addressed to her family and dropped off several days ago.

“They complained about the toys on the sidewalk, bikes on the sidewalk, scooters, and a ball hitting their car one time,” said Quisenberry.

The mother of two told KPRC that on most days, the neighborhood children gather outside her home to play basketball, toss the football, or ride bikes and scooters.

“It’s innocent, sweet, and we love it,” she said. “We love this neighborhood.”

The letter alleges that the outside activity is an inconvenience for drivers and says it brings down the value of the neighborhood.

The upset resident goes on to say it makes it feel like an upgraded trailer park.

Quisenberry posted the letter to Facebook and put it up in front of her home for other residents to see.

“We’ve had people reach out to us on that street saying, ‘Hey, I just want to let you know this is not coming from us, we support you. We love your kids, keep them outside,’” Quisenberry said.

Daniel Priedigkeit, a father and neighbor whose children play outside said he fully supports the Quisenberrys.

“It’s kind of nice to watch, not just our section, but the entire neighborhood get behind these kids and get behind their family for standing up to a ‘Karen,’” Priedigkeit said.

In response to the letter, Quisenberry said neighbors and community members have also organized a block party on Saturday.

KPRC 2 reached out to the neighborhood HOA but have yet to hear back.
