HOUSTON – A 19-year-old is dead and two other teens were injured after a shooting took place at a gas station in southeast Houston late Saturday night, Houston police said.
According to HPD Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu, a Pasadena PD officer reported hearing gunshots in the area near a gas station located at the corner of Gulf Freeway and Astoria.
Two suspects parked behind the gas station and at some point approached the victims inside a black SUV. That was when, police said, shots were fired toward the teens.
One of the suspects was believed to have had a “long gun,” according to police.
When responding HPD officers arrived, they found one teen dead inside the vehicle, and another wounded. A third teen appeared to be grazed by a bullet.
Asst. Chief Cantu said a witness transported two victims to a nearby hospital where they are expected to survive. One of the teens transported was later life flighted to Memorial Hermann in the Medical Center area.
“There was a witness that came back, the kids were yelling for help. He transported since the hospital just down the street. He thought it was faster, he helped pull them out and came back to the scene,” Cantu said.
Police are investigating what led to the shooting.
Police believe the suspects and the victims knew one another.
At this time, police believe one of the suspects was wearing dark-colored shorts, and the other wore dark-colored clothing and flip-flops with socks.
No weapons were found inside the vehicle.
