HOUSTON – Police are investigating after they said a man and concert attendee was fatally shot in a parking lot near Arena Theatre in southwest Houston Sunday.
It happened at 7326 Southwest Fwy around 11:40 p.m.
When officers with the Houston Police Department arrived at the scene, they located the 29-year-old victim in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to his torso. Investigators said he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department.
Investigators said there was a concert happening at the Arena Theatre when officers from multiple agencies heard the gunshots. Police investigated to see where the gunshots came from and found the victim on the ground, HPD said.
Officers said they started life-saving measures on the man before HFD arrived.
According to investigators, witnesses saw two men between 25-35 years old and a driver in a four-door GMC truck. Police said the two suspects got out of the vehicle and approached the victim. The suspects then shot the victim and fled the scene in the truck, HPD said.
Multiple gun casings were reportedly located in the area. Police said a motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
According to investigators, the victim was believed to be attending the concert. Police said there was no fighting before the shooting occurred.
The investigation is ongoing as police search for the three suspects involved.
