Several units damaged in 2-alarm apartment fire in southwest Houston, officials say

HOUSTON – Several people are without a home after a two-alarm fire at a southwest Houston apartment complex Thursday, officials with the Houston Fire Department said.

HFD responded to reports of a fire at an apartment complex located at 3500 Woodchase Dr. around 11:11 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from a common attic, officials said.

According to HFD, crews were able to put the fire out and all of the residents were able to evacuate. Officials said no one was injured in the fire.

Officials said several units were impacted but it’s still unclear how many families have been affected. American Red Cross is assisting those without homes, HFD said.

HFD arson is investigating to determine how the fire started.
