PHOTOS: Inside the Dallas Arboretum’s gourd-geous fall destination

The Dallas Arboretum's Autumn at the Arboretum event (Genevieve Beverick, Genevieve Beverick)

DALLAS – As a parent of two toddlers, I don’t get out much. I admit it. But I have friends with toddlers who sometimes get out and go on adventures with their little ones and report back to me the amazingness that is the beyond of the Dallas metro area.

Specifically, the Dallas Arboretum’s Autumn at the Arboretum event that is running now through Oct. 31.

I’m sharing this because I’m not going to get there this year, but you just might. It looks amazing, parent friends. And with the relative chill finally coming to Texas, this could finally be the time to enjoy an outdoor event such as this and enjoy it to its fullest.

The 17th annual Autumn at the Arboretum features 100,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, hailing from the pumpkin capital of Texas, Floydada, throughout the garden. The arboretum notes this year’s theme “A Fall Fairy Tale” features the return of Cinderella’s Carriage, along with themed pumpkin houses that make up the acclaimed Pumpkin Village and a maze for younger visitors. Other displays reimagine classic tales of “Jack and the Beanstalk,” The Three Little Pigs,” “The Sword in the Stone” and “One Thousand and One Nights.” Tickets range in price from $5 to $20, depending on what you reserve.

Good job, Dallas Arboretum. It really does look like a fairy tale.

Props to my neighbor Genevieve Beverick for these amazing photos.
