Journalists have beats… stories they follow and report on diligently.
Mine is Kate Upton… specifically, everything she wears as she cheers on her husband, Justin Verlander, and the Astros.
First, it was the throwback sweater in 2017.
Then it was the sold-out jacket earlier in these playoffs.
And then, following the World Series win at Minute Maid Park on Saturday night, she wore a sweet bomber jacket adorned with Houston patches.
The buzz started quickly, and I got to work.
As soon as I posted a photo on my Facebook page, my friend Heather dropped a link in the comments to Alpha Industries. It definitely looks like the same jacket (but it’s sold out).
But minutes later, KPRC 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy lived out my dream on live TV when he interviewed Kate Upton on the field. And, of course, he asked her about the jacket!
Kate said she got it from a place called Aviation Nation. She even added a few patches of her own!
I’m now on the hunt to get one of these jackets for myself, and I have a feeling that a few of you will too.
