Somber anniversary: Authorities still searching for answers 2 years after Jason Landry’s disappearance; reward increased to $20K

Authorities and family are still searching for answers in the disappearance of Jason Landry two years later.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office said Landry, 21 at the time of his disappearance, was heading to the Missouri City area on Dec. 13, 2020. Investigators found his crashed vehicle, a Nissan Altima, near Luling off Salt Flat Road with some of his belongings scattered nearby.

Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR) was involved in search efforts but had since then suspended its search. Landry’s family and friends offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts and return. The reward has since been increased to $20,000.

There were no indications of foul play and no evidence to support that Landry was the victim of a crime, according to Capt. Jeff Ferry with CCSO.

Landry’s family and friends plan to have a vigil in Luling Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. A virtual option to watch the vigil will also be available.

Anyone with information on Landry’s disappearance or whereabouts is urged to contact the Texas Attorney General at (512) 936-0742 or (726) 777-1359.
