A Cypress Fairbanks ISD coach and teacher is under investigation after allegations of improper conduct with a student.
In a statement to KPRC 2 News, Leslie Francis, assistant superintendent for communication and community relations wrote: “Mr. Lywen Bradford was placed on administrative leave on Dec. 9, 2022 pending a complete investigation by law enforcement, after Cypress Woods High School administration was made aware of allegations of improper conduct with a student. Mr. Bradford has been a teacher at Cypress Woods High School since Aug.12, 2019″.
Cypress Woods High School websites and social media sites listed him as a football and baseball coach.
But the stepfather of one of the students accusing Bradford says he was also a biology teacher, and that he violated her during class.
The man, who we are not identifying to protect the identity of his child, says he and his wife got a call from the school on Dec. 12.
Their 16-year-old daughter had been pulled from class and questioned about Bradford. The girl told them Bradford fondled her eight or nine times as she went to his desk to ask questions.
“He would put his arms around her back and then he would pull up on her panties, and then he would rub his hands along her hips and go under her shirt, and she didn’t know what to do,” the girl’s stepfather said, recounting what she told them.
The parents said the girl had been in Bradford’s class since the start of the school year in August. They told KPRC 2 she had complained about him in the past, but never offered details when asked.
“She did state ‘my biology teacher he’s just weird, he’s just strange’,” her stepfather said.
The district would not answer additional questions about the investigation but the stepfather says his child is not the only who has made these claims.
“She was not the first one, apparently there are almost 20 who have come forward so far. He’s a predator and he’s taken advantage of these young teenage girls,” he said.
Bradford also worked for at least two other school districts, Houston ISD and Alief ISD. A spokesperson for Alief told KPRC 2 News Bradford was hired on Aug. 19, 2018, and resigned to work in another school district on May 29, 2019.
HISD has not yet provided details about Bradford’s previous employment.
Attempts to reach Mr. Bradford were unsuccessful.
Late Tuesday evening Paul Doyle, an attorney who said he was helping Bradford clear his name, contacted KPRC 2 News and said Bradford does not teach biology and that “these allegations are demonstrably false.”
