Humble ISD teacher placed on leave after shoving 16-year-old student multiple times in class

“This teacher was out of control. In fact his behavior reminds you of teacher’s gone wild.”

HUMBLE, Texas – A Humble ISD teacher was captured on video slamming a student multiple times into a classroom table and wall on Wednesday.

On Friday, the students’ family and supporters spoke out over the incident.

“This teacher was out of control. In fact, his behavior reminds you of teacher’s gone wild,” said activist Quannell X.

The 16-year-old student is never seen retaliating on the video as the teacher shoves him and holds him for several seconds.

“No child should be having his hands, having a teacher who is supposed to be teaching and protecting him slang him all over the room like he is a rag doll,” said the students father, Elvert Bolden.

Bolden says the teacher in the video came in from another classroom to help a substitute teacher approximately thirty minutes before the end of school.

“All the students at the end of the day, just talking and being loud at the end of the day. The teacher didn’t want it going on,” Bolden said. “So he came over there and approached my son to be quiet.”

Things ignited shortly thereafter, but Humble ISD says the incident should have never happened and is unacceptable.

The district police are investigating.

“I don’t want another student to feel the way my baby felt. May he be white, Black, Hispanic, or Asian. It does not matter to me,” said Bolden.

The family is hoping for charges against the teacher.

The student’s grandfather, who drove eight hours overnight from Arkansas to support his family, says the teacher should have been terminated.

According to a spokesperson, the district put the teacher on leave, adding the teacher is unlikely to return upon the conclusion of an investigation.

Dr. James Bolden also made it clear that the family is not going away.

“We’re going after with legal actions,” said the grandfather.
