KATY, Texas – A father has been arrested and charged after his 4-year-old son was shot at a home in the Fort Bend County area and rushed to a west Houston hospital Thursday night, deputies said.
According to investigators, the father, 25-year-old Gendri Aguillon, was charged with injury to a child and making a false police report.
Deputies say the child was struck by gunfire at a home located in the 25000 block of Tancy Ranch Court around 10:30 p.m. He was shot in the arm and transported to Texas Children’s Hospital and is in stable condition, deputies said.
According to Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan, authorities got conflicting information at the beginning when they were told the child was shot during an alleged road rage incident on the Katy Freeway. That report was investigated by the Houston Police Department and determined to be not true. Mishandling of a firearm possibly contributed to the child’s injury.
Deputies said they are unsure who fired the weapon or what led to the child being shot, but the child’s grandma reported hearing some type of commotion upstairs at the house and then saw the child bleeding, Fagan said.
Aguillon is being held in the Fort Bend County jail on a $750 bond.
“No child should ever be harmed in any way,” said Sheriff Fagan. “Our detectives are thoroughly investigating the incident and we remind everyone that making a false police report is illegal. Those responsible will be held accountable.”
