HOUSTON – As you make your grocery list for Sunday’s big game, consider these healthy snacks, according to Dr. Christine Le from Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
Veggie and fruit trays
They’ll help fill you up so you might not be as tempted by high-calorie foods.
Cheese trays
“The cheese and nut tray is very nutritious. The nuts are very filling because they have protein,” Dr. Le said. “Cheese is a good option for dairy. It helps people feel fuller and it’s so natural and healthy and great for bones.”
Air fry or bake chicken wings
Beware sauces are full of sodium and hidden sugars. Le said to skip the ranch and barbecue but opt for buffalo sauce instead.
To make a healthier ranch option, Dr. Le said to get Greek yogurt instead of sour cream to mix with ranch, which can pack a punch without the full fat.
Stovetop popcorn
Stovetop helps make for the healthiest popcorn option. It eliminates the salty, buttery ingredients included inside microwaveable bags.
